EDITOR REEL – 2022

EDITING WORK

“People of The Spell”

In the summer of 2021, I was invited to film several incarnations of THE SPELL, an open creative jam session created by singer, tap dancer, and live-sample artist Liberty Styles.

In keeping with the collaborative spirit of the event, I filmed their outdoor party over the course of one day, then sampled and remixed various audio moments to create the soundtrack for this video.

Filmed and Edited by Leon Chase.

“Attack of the 50-Foot Movie”

Sizzle-style social-media promo for my monthly cult-film event Attack of the 50-Foot Movie.

Compiled and edited by Leon Chase.

For each event, I also personally curate and assemble a one-of-a-kind “Video Mixtape”: a collection of contemporary trailers, drive-in movie advertisements, and assorted vintage weirdness—all related somehow to the era and genre of the featured film.

“Acorn Proof of Concept”

Highlander Cultural Bazaar Recap

One of two promo videos I created for the historic Highlander Research and Education Center, summarizing their two-day online Zoom event held in June 2020.

“Fever Dreams”

This is a personal art project, which I created during lockdown while recovering from a COVID-19 infection.

Both the music and video were crafted entirely from public-domain audio samples and footage.

“Distant”

I made this movie—with the help of my talented wife Ashlie— inside our apartment in April 2020, in response to Roger Corman’s Quarantine Film Festival challenge.

The challenge: Make a movie, under two minutes, without leaving your home, using only a cell phone and available lights.

Shot on a Galaxy S10 phone. All jobs except acting were done by me.

Official Selection:
Corman Quarantine Film Festival
Coney Island Film Festival 2020
New York City Quarantine Film Festival 2020

“Blade Runner – The Lost Cut”

Mash-Up Video

Conceived and Edited by Leon Chase

I had been kicking around the idea of this video for quite a while. While recovering from COVID-19 in April 2020, I suddenly found myself with more time on my hands, and figured it was a good opportunity to finally sit down and make it happen.
